Swinburne University of Technology in Sarawak is the offshore campus of the Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, Australia. The Sarawak campus is located in Kuching and it was established through the partnership of the Sarawak State Government and of Swinburne Australia.
Swinburne Australia wanted to be able to operate globally so that they can provide international learning opportunities to their students. This aim brought about the establishment of the Sarawak campus.
Swinburne University of Technology – History
The school was formerly known as Swinburne Sarawak Institute of Technology and it held its operations in the State Office Complex at Jalan Simpang Tiga, Kuching. Its commencing semester opened in August 2000 and it welcomed 130 students. It was in June 10, 2004 that the school was upgraded into full university status.

Swinburne Sarawak offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs that are identical to those that are offered in the Australia main campus. The degree programs offered are in the fields of Commerce & Business, Design, Information & Communication Technologies, Engineering, and Science. The postgraduate programs offered are Master of Business, Master of Engineering, Master of Science, and Doctor of Philosophy.
Swinburne University of Technology – Facilities
The school offers the latest technologies in their facilities and this enables the highest form of student training. Their Business, IT and Science Block building has 8 science labs, research labs, and computer labs that are equipped with multimedia applications. Its Engineering Block has a Software Research labs, Radio Frequency labs, and Fluid labs and workshop. Other facilities available are lecture theater, multi-purpose hall, and onsite hostel.
