Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) or Northern University of Malaysia is located in Sintok, Kedah and was established in February 16, 1984. It was designated by the Malaysian government as a management university as its sole mission is to be the premier school in management education. It has 13 faculties and has one of the biggest groups of academe on Human Resources Management.
Northern University of Malaysia – Academic system
The academic system incorporated in UUM is the semester system in which 6 semesters would need to be completed in order to qualify for a degree. The student can only then get the degree if a 2.00 PMK is achieved. If the student fails to do so, 2 additional semesters will be given to meet the requirement.

UUM has 45 undergraduate and 38 postgraduate programs. Faculties of UUM include: Faculty of Accountancy, Faculty of Finance and Banking, Faculty of Business Management, Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Cognitive Science and Education, Faculty of Information Technology, Faculty of Quantitative Science, Faculty of International Studies and Executive Development Centre.
Among the postgraduate programs are: Doctor of Philosophy, Master of Human Resource, Master of Public Administration, Master of Science in Accounting, Master of Science in Decision Science, Master of Science in Insurance & Risk Management and Master of Business Administration.
Northern University of Malaysia – Facilities
UUM has a lot of facilities that are available for their students. Their university mall and university mosque is only some of these. The university also has a Library Information Technology Automated System that houses a huge collection of different types of resources. A sports complex, football field and golf course is also available for the students to use along with a Student Health Centre that aside from providing basic health care to the students also conducts health campaigns and services to its local community.
